Hatton Adventure World is to host its popular and special Pirate Festival from 26 May – 3 June 2018.  The popular family attraction is yet again inviting budding Buccaneers, Long John Silver’s and Captain Jack Sparrow’s to experience the golden age of piracy and enter a world of hidden treasure, skulduggery and pesky pirate antics during the Whitsun half term!

The pirate style entertainment will include a live Pirate Show in the family theatre, exciting Pirate Battles, finding smuggled booty in the hidden Treasure Hunt and panning for gold. In addition there are the usual activities that make Hatton a great family day out in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside including the Guinea Pig village, snake handling, tractor safari, falconry demonstrations, outdoor laser combat (for those aged 8yrs+), Fun Fair Rides and the huge indoor soft play area ‘Snorty’s Superslide Mania’!

It’s where a bright Midlands schoolboy was educated and inspired to become the world’s greatest playwright.

Your visit to Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall will bring to life William’s time as a schoolboy, from about 1571 to 1578. You’ll find out how his outlook and ambitions were formed by the lessons he attended at the Guildhall and the plays he saw there.

You’ll follow in William’s footsteps, exploring the classroom where he studied between the ages of 7 and 14. You can watch a short film about the kind of lessons he went to, and try some Tudor homework. You can even take part in a live Tudor lesson under the watchful eye of a ‘master’!

Goliath Bird Eating Spider

Springtime at the Butterfly Farm!

Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm has lots to celebrate this spring. As well as hundreds of beautiful tropical butterflies, we have two amazing new creatures on display in Minibeast Metropolis. The Goliath Bird Eating Spider, also known as Theraphosa leblondi, which is considered to be the largest spider in the world, was named by Victorian explorers who saw one eating a hummingbird! Visitors can also see a venomous Vietnamese Centipede, also known as Scolopendra subspinipes. They are highly aggressive and have a venomous bite.

Recently launched is ‘Cafe on the Go’, situated in the wildflower garden where baristas will be serving delicious hot drinks, milkshakes and snacks. The retro style coffee bicycle, which is equipped with a full barista Fracino machine, will be serving a specialist Fairtrade coffee brand sourced directly from the growers.

During half term from 26 May – 3 June 2018 in the Discovery Zone children and adults can take part in twice daily ‘Meet the Mini-Beast’ handling sessions with one of the friendly team members. Visitors can hold creatures such as a giant African millipede, African land snail and a variety of stick insects. There will also be informative talks, throughout the week, for all the family about our beetles, leafcutter ants and tailless whip scorpion.

British Motor Museum

May half-term 2018 is all about Adventure, Animation and Land Rovers! This year is the 70th birthday of Land Rover and we are celebrating with some great themed activities for you to enjoy.
Animation Workshops

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for you to make your own short animated film with a Land Rover twist! Create a storyboard and build a Land Rover model to star in your animation using ‘Animate It!’, the easy to use stop motion animation software and app developed by Kudlian Software and Aardman – the world famous animation studio and creators of family favourites such as Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph. The script is everything, so start thinking about the plot for your animation now.

Come and discover some of the Land Rovers in our collection with this family friendly trail. Simply pick up a trail sheet from the Family Activity Station in the Welcome Gallery and enjoy this self-guided trail.

Lunt Roman Fort

The Lunt Roman Fort is the only partially reconstructed wooden fort in Britain today and home to the Gyrus, the only horse training ring found within a Roman fort.  Open to the public only on selected dates in the school holidays during May, summer and October.

Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)

Warwick Castle

Opening on 26 May at Warwick Castle is the return of the Wars of the Roses Live spectacle with a new challenge – the UK’s first family Escape Room set in a medieval gaol. Set in the underground prison, the challenge provides a thrilling live actor-led experience for visitors as they battle the clock to set a knight free in time to return to the arena and join the famous Lancaster versus York battles. The Escape Room is designed for the family, incorporating stories and puzzles, actor-led interventions and a set that suits children & adults.
