Dubbed a cross between the classic board game Cluedo and Pokemon Go – CluedUpp will be bringing Manhunt – a live murder mystery game to Stratford-upon-Avon on 20 January 2018, which has nearly 1,000 people pre-registered for the event.
Filled with plenty of riddles and mysteries, your team of up to six detectives will play the game using a Smartphone app; you’ll solve clues, track down virtual witnesses and compete against other teams to unmask the killer of Jimmy Johnson – a notorious nightclub owner, who has died in unnatural circumstances.
The virtual murder mystery event, which has been to 50 cities and towns across the UK, has received rave reviews from those who have taken part, with many hailing it as ‘a crime-solving adventure like no other’, the beauty of the game is that it is suitable for all to get involved in, including families, friends, colleagues and more.
Owner of CluedUpp Tref Griffiths said he is looking forward to bringing the event to Stratford-upon-Avon. He said:
“We have done events all over the UK, around 50 since January 2017. The Midlands has been great to us, we bought the game to Stratford-upon-Avon in 2017 and its back due to popular demand. What we have found is the numbers interested in the event via our social media completely outstrip those for other places we have put on in the Midlands, so we’re really excited about coming to Shakespeare’s hometown. People should expect a fun and interactive experience filled with many brain teasers and riddles. While it isn’t fully augmented reality, once people reach a certain destination the witness will pop up on their phone and interact with them giving clues and a witness statement.”
Tref added that more than 20,000 people had taken part in the events in 2017 and that they had already got 150 teams pre-registered before tickets had even gone on sale. The murder mystery event is set to take place on Saturday, 20 January.
Tref goes onto say:
“Our researchers are still looking into different routes we can use in the city to capture all the quirks and sights it has to offer. We also encourage people to dress up to take part as it has made a great spectacle at other events. There will also be prizes for best fancy dress and for best junior detective.”
