New coffee bike at Stratford Butterfly Farm
The Stratford Butterfly Farm is to launch ‘Café on the Go’ on Friday 30 March 2018. Situated in the wildflower garden, the team of trained baristas will be serving hot drinks, including Cappuccino, Mocha and Americano, milkshakes and snacks, from a retro style bicycle. The bicycle, which is equipped with a full barista Fracino machine, will be serving a specialist Fairtrade coffee brand sourced directly from the growers. Café on the Go will be open for service at the weekends, Bank Holidays, including Good Friday and on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am – 4pm.
New on display in Minibeast Metropolis are the Amazon Milk Frogs also known as Trachycephatus resinifictrix. The frogs, which originate from South America, are extremely well camouflaged and can reach up to 8cm in length. They live in the understory layer of the Amazon rainforest. When threatened they produce a poisonous milky secretion designed to deter predators and will try to eat any insect that they can fit in their mouths!
From 3 – 15 April children and adults can get close to some amazing creatures with ‘Meet the Minibeast’ handling sessions under the supervision of the friendly and informative Education Team in the Discovery Zone. Visitors will be able to hold a variety of stick insects, African land snails, giant millipedes and even Madagascan cockroaches!
